EAS supports improving the cybersecurity of companies

Cybersecurity is essential for companies to protect business-critical systems and confidential information.

EAS supports the mapping and improvement of small and medium-sized companies’ cybersecurity levels with 50% self-financing up to €60,000. The grant for preparing the road map is up to €10,000, and for implementing development activities up to €50,000.

The importance of improving cybersecurity

Many of the company’s operations have moved to the Internet, so a lack of information security can have devastating consequences.

Some of the reasons why improving cybersecurity is important for a business:

  • Data protection – Businesses handle various valuable and confidential data, including customer data, trade secrets, financial reports and intellectual property, which cybersecurity measures help protect from criminals.
  • Preventing financial losses – Cyber attacks can lead to theft, extortion, and legal problems, which high cybersecurity helps to prevent.
  • Maintaining a company’s reputation – Cyber attacks and data breaches can profoundly undermine customer trust, so paying attention to cybersecurity shows a company’s commitment to protecting its reputation and brand image.
  • Compliance with regulations and laws – In some fields of business, there are various regulations and ordinances set for data and cybersecurity, non-compliance with which the company may face fines and other legal consequences.
  • Business continuity – Security incidents can disrupt business processes, causing disruptions and reducing productivity.

Mapping and improving cybersecurity levels help raise awareness of cyber threats and ways to deal with them.

The company will also receive clear instructions on increasing its information security level.

EAS cybersecurity grant

EAS cybersecurity grant helps to raise entrepreneurs’ awareness of information security and implement solutions that help protect themselves from possible cyber attacks and the resulting damages.

Small and medium-sized industrial enterprises, wholesale and retail trade enterprises, construction enterprises, transport and storage enterprises and information and communication enterprises registered in the Estonian business register can apply for support.

The maximum possible grant is up to €60,000, of which the support for preparing the roadmap is up to €10,000, and the support for implementing the development of the roadmap is up to €50,000 per project.

You can read more about EAS grant here.

Step 1: cybersecurity roadmap, i.e. mapping the information security level

The entrepreneur engages an external advisor. A roadmap is drawn up, with an assessment of the company’s cybersecurity given, shortcomings highlighted, activities necessary to increase the security, and proposals for improving technical, physical, and organizational protection measures. In addition, the roadmap must contain an estimate of the duration of the necessary development measures, the sequence of activities and a one-year action plan. Project implementation up to 4 months.

Step 2: implementation of development activities brought out in the roadmap

The changes planned in the roadmap will be implemented with the help of a cybersecurity service provider to improve the company’s level of cybersecurity. The project must be executed in 12 months.
